USDA Plant Hardiness Zone by Zip Code

Just enter your zip code on this USDA site and your hardiness zone is displayed right on your screen. While this is a handy thing it is not fool proof. For instance hardiness zones can have several different micro-climates in the same zip code. This can be had just by a change in slope and contour as to where cold air collects and stays for a while.

Now keep in mind the map has NEW zones brought on by so called climate change, global warming or, jump back forty years ago to Carl Sagan's prediction of global cooling.  It was Carl Sagan who urged people to sign on to his theory of melting the polar ice caps to stave off global cooling and a potential new ice age.

Point is while useful this interactive government funded program will not replace the advice of real people at real garden centers.
